Indian head massage, also known as Champissage, comes from an ancient Eastern form of healing used to relax and stimulate the mind and body, reduce physical tension and instil a sense of emotional well being. It is applied to the scalp, neck, upper back, upper arms, face and ears and usually lasts between twenty minutes and 1 hour.
The therapy is carried out with the recipient fully clothed and in a seated position with both feet placed on the floor. Sometimes oils can be used but many Indian head massage treatments are administered with no oil at all.Indian head massage can be carried out almost anywhere: a private room, the workplace, exhibitions and health fairs, etc. An extremely versatile therapy, its popularity is on the increase with the growing demand for mobile therapies.

Indian head massage was developed from Ayurvedic medicine. The word Ayurveda comes from the Sanskrit language with Ayur meaning ‘life’ and Veda meaning ‘knowledge’. Ayurveda is one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world, originating in India thousands of years ago.
There are many principles of Ayurveda which include: diagnostics, pathology, pharmacology and physiology. It is also an holistic therapy, which means it treats an individual based
on all aspects of their lifestyle: mental, physical and emotional.
